Set the Stage: Color, Contrast, and Title Slides

Created by: eResponders

Byte 1 of 4 · 6 minutes

The first slide sets the tone for everything that follows, and the colors you choose there carry through the whole presentation. This Byte covers how to design a title slide that gives your audience a clear way in, how to choose colors with enough contrast to stay readable, and how to save that palette into your PowerPoint theme so it applies consistently across every slide. It closes with an interactive activity where you try different palettes on a real slide and see how contrast changes what you can read.

By the end of this Byte, you will be able to build a title slide and a color palette that give your presentation a clear visual foundation.

This is the first of four Bytes in Design Tips to Level Up Your PowerPoint, a short course that follows a presentation the way a film production moves from the opening scene to the premiere.
