Direct the Audience: Visual Hierarchy and Keywords
Created by: eResponders
Byte 2 of 4 · 5 minutes
Most of us have sat through a presentation where the slide held a full paragraph and we stopped listening in order to read it. This Byte covers the two design decisions that prevent that, starting with visual hierarchy, which uses size and weight to show your audience what to read first, and moving into how to reduce a dense sentence down to the key words that carry the idea.
By the end of this Byte, you will be able to set up text styles that guide your audience through a slide and write slide text that supports your explanation rather than competing with it.
This is the second of four Bytes in Design Tips to Level Up Your PowerPoint, a short course that follows a presentation the way a film production moves from the opening scene to the premiere.
